I’ve seen a couple of people state this.
That they have a mortgage through a servicing company.
They can not refinance is one complaint.
And it does not get reported to the credit bureaus.

Any info on what it is will be nice – I’m clueless.

I recently went in with my parents on a 5 year fixed mortgage. They could afford the house without me but I put my name on it to get a housing allowance from my company. I now want to buy my own home but require my name off the mortgage in order to get financing (on my own). The banker said that my parents would have to refinance the mortgage and pay a fine for canceling the 5 year fixed mortgage. We just wish to remove my name not redo the mortgage.

Our mortgage lender has filed for bankruptcy. Our payments to the mortgage company include principle, interest, taxes and insurance (PITI). What happens to the money we have paid towards taxes and insurance ?? Since we have paid this money in advance with our payment, is the bankrupt mortgage lender required by law to pay them? If they don’t, due to bankruptcy protection, are we responsible to pay the money that has already been received by the mortgage lender?? In other words, lets say we have made payments totaling $10,000 over the last 10 months, $2500 of which is taxes and insurance. If the mortgage lender does not pay the $2500 to the insurance company and to the IRS, do we have to come up with the $2500 to pay what the mortgage lender did not ??

We are in the process of trying to refinance with a new mortgage company. We currently have homeowner’s insurance through Farm Bureau Insurance, as well as boat, automobile, and life insurance. The mortgage company we are refinancing with is saying that we must have and escrow account and pay their OWN homeowner’s insurance, instead of Farm Bureau. I don’t want to do this because we get a multi-line discount at Farm Bureau, and I like them. Can they do this?

I need to know how to calculate the value of a mortgage from the asking price when you pay a 15% down payment. I also need to know, given a 3.5%/year interest rate over 15 years, how to calculate the equivalent interest rate per month and the monthly mortgage payment

I am helping my dad restructure 2 mortgages which are both 2-3 mo’s late. What is the best way to do this? He tried himself in the past, but feels now that he is late, it is best to let a professional handle and negotiate for him. However, the co’s all seem to charge fees upfront. He seems to think this is OK, however i am cautious. Does anyone know of a good site or co? Should we call a mortgage broker? Thanks for any advice.

I’ve heard that all mortgage companies do not handle this loan. Other than calling all the companies in the phone book, is there a way to find out who does? Is there a listing somewhere?
